Travel Updates

I don't think a lot has happened since I last posted, but I do have a few updates so I thought I'd write a quick blog for all my loyal readers. ;)

Today we went into the city and visited the TKTS booth to see if we could get any tickets to see a show. We would have liked to see Joseph, however today was Lee Mead's last show so while there were tickets available, they were not discounted. ;) For those of you who don't follow West End theatre happenings, Lee Mead was chosen to play Joseph in a reality show vote and is extremely popular. We saw him perform at the Andrew Lloyd Webber birthday bash in the summer with the Singer and Serdic and can see why! So instead we went to see the matinee performance of Les Miserables, which Noise has never seen before. It was excellent! I cried when Eponine died, as usual. We didn't see the regular Jean Valjean, however the guy we saw was very good.

In two weeks we're off on our Swiss adventure! We're flying to Geneva on Saturday, and on Sunday taking the train to Saas-Fee, a ski resort in the Swiss Alps. We're there for 3 nights, to spend 2 full days skiing, then moving on to Lauterbrunnen. From there we will visit Gimmelwald and Murren, and possibly take the train up to the Jungfraujoch if the weather is good. Then we travel on to Zurich and will fly home from there. We're flying on BA and this will be our first opportunity to experience the infamous Terminal 5 at Heathrow (which was a complete disaster when it opened - most of the luggage was lost and most of the flights canceled!) We'll see how it goes! We're going prepared for cold weather, with our ski jackets and pants, long underwear, hats, mitts, and warm boots. Noise is hoping to buy a watch in Geneva, however we'll have to see what the prices are like. Geneva is not known for being inexpensive!

In other travel news, we are in the midst of planning a trip to Italy in the middle of March. We're definitely planning time in Venice and Rome, with a side trip to see the leaning tower of Pisa. ;) Where we are having trouble is in deciding between time in Sorrento and the Amalfi coast, versus the Cinque Terre on the Riviera. Anyone have thoughts to share?

And I have just arranged to go to a conference on feline emergency medicine in June - in Croatia! Noise is coming as well and we'll tack on an extra day or two after the conference for a holiday. The conference is being held at a hotel in Cavtat, which is just next to Dubrovnik. One of the activities that we can indulge in while we're there (arranged through the conference) is a sailboat trip down to Dubrovnik and a walking tour of the city. It should be great fun. Our head nurse at work is planning to come as well and bring her fiance, so we'll try to all travel together.

On top of that we're going to Scotland in July, where Noise and his friend E already have tee-times booked at St. Andrew's.

So lots of travel being planned! Next on my list is Greece, maybe in September. :) We'll see how that goes...

For those who are anal about technicalities, TKTS is not in the city (although, since it wasn't spelled as the City, I will cut some slack!)...

And for added gloating, there are three rounds booked for the trip - two at St. Andrew's (the Old Course and the New Course) and one at Kingsbarns...I have never paid so much for golf in my life, but it is worth it!!!
